Beach babies!

So last weekend was an awesome weekend! We had absolutely beautiful weather out here on the island so we planned a picnic trip to the beach. We returned to Witty's but went to the parking lot just off the beach so we didn't have to haul all the picnic/beach things down the 1km hike.

The day was perfect. Blue sky with just a few white, fluffy clouds. No wind. Glorious sun rays beating down. Perfect for a picnic and some fun in the sun. We put our new beach toys to the test and I am pretty sure Oakley gave them an A+. He had so much fun playing with the bucket and other tools. Emmett loved being out and in the sun. It was our first beach trip that wasn't insanely windy so he was able to breathe and enjoy himself. The water was lovely in the little "tide pool". Supposedly, tide pools are more rocky and this was sand. There was a sand bar dividing this piece of water from the ocean. Tide pool? I don't know. Anyways. It was nice to soak our feet. Matt and Oakley waded over to the little sand bar and Oakley would just run and run back and forth, up and down. There were also crabs to play with. During our 4-5ish hour stay, Matt found two baby crabs and a hermit crab and Oakley found his own hermit crab...which he then buried in sand in his bucket filled with water. Don't worry. The crab was fine. I was feeling sorry for the crab but then Matt informed me that they are really good at digging up out of the sand. Make sense. They live on the floor of oceans with sand moving all the time. Ha. I am blonde. Anyways, moving on. We played and Emmett and I had a little nap, we got covered in sand, buried in sand, found some fun shells, I got a sunburn because I didn't put on any sunscreen and there were many tears shed by a little man when we left. Oh, our sweet boy loves to be outside. Especially when there is water involved. It was such an amazing day. We loved being together on such a splendid day.

And to prove how much fun we had, here's some more photographic evidence. :)

I love the sunscreen smear on this boy.

I love my Emmett.

Oakley "slid" down the sand pile - more scooting than sliding though. :)
